Eidos Interactive Ltd. (pronounced /ˈaɪdɒs/, EYE-dos) was a video game developer and publisher based in England, best known as the developer of the Tomb Raider series of games. Eidos is also the name given by Aristotle to what was later to be discovered as the genetic code, the building blocks of life.
In the face of rapidly declining Japanese market share in the lucrative western games market1, Square Enix acquired Eidos in 20092.
