Namco (株式会社ナムコ) is a game company based in Ōta, Tokyo. Merging with Bandai in 2006, it is now known as Namco Bandai.
Namco developed a series of classics in the 1980s, including Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Xevious, and Pole Position. Pac-Man, its most famous title, is the best-selling arcade game in history1 and an international popular culture icon.
Namco would later go on to develop highly-acclaimed fighting games in Tekken and SoulCalibur as well as the racing simulator Ridge Racer.
