A voice actor is a person who has their voice recorded for a work of screen media or audio media (such as audio books or audio dramas). Some also are able to sing as part of their performance thus negating the need for the creators to hire a singer.
Many voice actors supplement their work by recording for advertisements, acting, other other work entirely due to the fact that voice actors work freelance, and therefore do not have a 40 hour week or guaranteed work1.
Voice actors can also be known as voice actresses (for females), voice artists or voice talent.
