The setting and presentation is fantastic...and the issues people brought up with the first game -- its linearity, its lack of meaty gameplay -- are a thing of the past. You're sucked into the game right from the beginning, and the story's very easy to get into.
As previously reported Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft wrote an article suggesting there was a conflict of interest in Famitsu scoring Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker 40/40 mostly due to Famitsu's Editor-in-Chief Hirokazu Hamamura appearing in Konami ads for the game.
Kotaku Japan has now been uninvited from a Peace Walker launch event by Konami and Famitsu has also written a letter raising concerns over the post1. Both of which Brian Ashcraft believes is interesting given that both events occurred on the same day.
As reported by Kotaku, Japanese magazine Famitsu has scored Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker 40/40. This makes the title the 14th to receive the coveted perfect score. Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft has lashed out, citing the fact that the magazine is actually available in the game, as well as the fact that the former Famitsu editor-in-chief Hirokazu Hamamura is now the President of Enterbrain, the publisher of the magazine. He is also in Konami's advertising campaign for the game and Ashcraft argues that this situation is harming the title.
Famitsu Cube/Advance rated Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, giving it 9/9/9/8 (35). That's two points higher than Famitsu gave it! Partial bastards! Unsurprisingly, FFTA has sold over 225k units so far... In related news, the same Cube/GBA mag also rated Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion, dealing out respectively a 37 and 35. Not bad. Famitsu itself rated Prime with a mere 33, and Dengeki, another crazy Japanese magazine, gave it 7/8/7/8. What were they thinking?1
