Star Fox 64 (known as Lylat Wars in Europe and Australia) sees Fox McCloud take to the skies once more on a fixed-rail space shooter. The game was the first on the Nintendo 64 to support the Rumble Pak and provided 3 AI-controlled team-mates; Slippy Toad, Peppy Hare, and Falco Lombardi. All three characters provided a unique function if kept alive (a life bar for the boss, in game hints and the ability to move on to harder level paths respectively). The game supported four-player death matches and also saw the Landmaster (a tank) and the Blue Marine (a submarine) used in some missions.
