- Stanley the bugman made an appearance in an episode of the Saturday Supercade Donkey Kong cartoon as well as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
- Perhaps due to its relative failure following its predecessors, Donkey Kong 3 would be the last title in the once monolithic series until its resurrection by Rare almost a decade later. The popularity of the Donkey Kong Country series would put Rare on a short-lived but extremely tall pedestal and spawn a whole series of new Donkey Kong games across a multitude of platforms.
