Final Fantasy Versus XIII

An Action RPG by Square Enix for PlayStation 3 in the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII series

Harmony is realized in this alternate tale of FINAL FANTASY XIII. Not a merely a sequel, but a wholly independent story unfolding in a different world with different characters.

Development

First announced in E3 20061, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is "a realistic derivation of Kingdom Hearts's battle system with some elements of a third-person shooter." Helmed by Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix Production Department 1 (the team responsible for Kingdom Hearts), Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been in development for over five years, with lengthy pauses in between to focus on other projects, notably those in the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII series. In September, 2011, producer Yoshinori Kitase announced that the title had entered full production, stating "Type-0 and Versus XIII have of course advanced to 100% development power."2
