Mega Man

An Action-Platformer for NES by Capcom in the Mega Man series

Mega Man box art

First published in 1987, Mega Man was the first appearance (of many) by the iconic blue bomber. The game establishes many of the gameplay conventions that would go on to define the Mega Man series, including non-linear levels wherein a "Robot Master" lies in wait at the end of each.

Mega Man was developed by a small team of people, which included significant involvement from artist Keiji Inafune. The game was produced specifically for the home console market, a first for Capcom, who had previously focused on arcade titles.1

An enhanced remake for the PlayStation Portable was released in 2006 with the title Mega Man Powered Up (Rockman Rockman [ロックマンロックマン] in Japan).

Most geeks, or at least most comic-book geeks, remember exactly where they were the first time they saw Batman: Dead End. Personally, I was walking down one of the aisles at the very first Wizard World Texas. It was the first decent convention to come around in a long time, and this beautifully-crafted short film was playing it seemed on every corner, and then some. Read on
