Metal Gear Solid familiarized the gaming world with the concept of survival over glory. You play as special forces agent Solid Snake, sent to Shadow Moses Island in Alaska's Fox archipelago, which has been taken over by next-generation special forces, including members of your old unit. What follows is a twisted web of lies, deceit, double-crosses, and lots of fantastic explosions.

The Fan Film Revolution

Most geeks, or at least most comic-book geeks, remember exactly where they were the first time they saw Batman: Dead End. Personally, I was walking down one of the aisles at the very first Wizard World Texas. It was the first decent convention to come around in a long time, and this beautifully-crafted short film was playing it seemed on every corner, and then some. Read on

Hideo Kojima's cryptic response to Barack Obama's Nobel Peace Prize
President Obama, who declared 'A World Without Nuclear Weapons' in Prague, has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Has the era at last started shifting? The start of the Peace Walker plan? I hope that comes to be. 'Peace will not walk to you'... 'You must both walk towards one another.' From the gym.

Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is finally out! You can watch it streamed via Vimeo on the main site Here or you can download it via bittorent in the hi-quality .mov or the smaller xvid .avi. You can also download Daniel James' phenomenal soundtrack at Hybrid Two.

Simply put, this is the greatest fan film ever made. Its not perfect, but its far better than the proposed Hollywood MGS movie could ever hope to be. Snake has a few moments where he seems a bit out of character, but overall the look, feel, and, most importantly in my book, the sound is strictly 100% MGS. Well worth a watch, even for those that aren't fans of the series, just as a 'look how crazy awesome these fans are!!'
