Development

The first incarnation of Mother 3 appeared in the mid-1990s as a polygonal sequel for the Nintendo 64 DD. The system proved to be a gargantuan commercial flop and, after languishing for several years, the new Mother project was canned. Soon thereafter, however, the project was revived in the second dimension for a Game Boy Advance release, much to the delight of Mother fans (of which there are rabid dispersed gaggles teeming all over the Earth's surface).
