Long, long ago, evil spirits descended on the land of Hyrule. Just when it seemed that the world was to be cast into the darkest of shadows, the tiny Picori appeared from the skies and bestowed on a courageous human a shining golden light and a single sword. This bravest of men used his wisdom and courage, his golden light, and his sword to fight off the demons and restore peace to the world. The people were so grateful for the their honor. The tradition of the Picori Festival continued, but over the generations, the Picori themselves passed into legend.

This year's festival is abuzz with talk of Vaati, a mysterious man who won the sword-fighting tournament with impossible ease. Who is Vaati? Why did he petrify Link's childhood friend Princess Zelda? Will Link ever give the Smithy his sword back?

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap is Flagship's last Zelda title and is known for adding in the ability to shrink Link to allow access to different dungeon areas. In addition to traditional Zelda gameplay (dungeons, bosses and traditional items) the game also introduces three new items. Link is able to wear the Mole Mitts which allow him to burrow into otherwise inaccessible areas, the Gust Jar can draw in air, items and monsters and shoot them back out and the Cane of Pacci can turn objects upside down. The game sold over 1.3 million copies worldwide1.

Official Zelda Series Timeline Released

Nintendo released a book to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Zelda series titled 'Hyrule Historia'. The book contains artwork, designs, and information. It also contains the hotly debated timeline of the series - except this time it's 100% official. In the early 2000s Nintendo of America released this timeline - complete with a warning that this was only their interpretation and the actual timeline remains open to debate. Translator Dan Owsen wanted to upload a draft but Nintendo Japan requested them to cancel the plan - as despite having an official plan in Japan they want to keep the speculation and theories running for the fandom.

The book is currently available in Japanese only however a fan translation has begun. The above image is a translated version of the official timeline provided in the book.
