Akira Yamaoka is the composer for Konami's Silent Hill series of horror titles. He began as a sound designer on Hideo Kojima's Snatcher and also contributed some sound effects to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Yamaoka's music from Silent Hill 2 was performed live in 2005 at the third Symphonic Game Music Concert and performed at the 2006 world-premiere of PLAY! A Video Game Symphony in Chicago, accompanying the orchestra on an electric seven-string guitar. Konami has announced a new Silent Hill title at a press event in San Francisco. Not much information is available at this stage, other than the title will be developed by Vatra Games. As more details emerge it will be interesting to see who from Konami is involved, what platform it is for and whether it is an original title (as opposed to a similar title to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories). As previously stated Akira Yamaoka has left Konami, time will tell if he is still happy to jump onboard as a freelance composer or not.1
