In 1985, Junya Nakano began his video game music career by creating MIDI files on his PC. Upon graduating from vocational school, he instantly applied to Konami and was given a job without delay. He spent 4 years working for the Konami arcade department before he, along with Kenichiro Fukui, left Konami to join Square.
Junya Nakano's game music scores for Square Enix include Another Mind (1998) and Threads of Fate (1999). He has also collaborated on the soundtracks for Final Fantasy X (2001) with Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu, and Musashi: Samurai Legend (2005) with Masashi Hamauzu, Takayuki Iwai, and Yuki Iwai. Additionally he composed a handful of tracks for Front Mission: Gun Hazard (1996), Tobal No. 1 (1996), and Seiken Densetsu 4: Dawn of Mana.
After his work for Final Fantasy X he composed music for Asmik Ace Entertainment, as he was part of the brief window where Square Sounds existed; composers in the subsidiary were able to be contracted to other companies if they were not busy with Square projects.1
In December 2009 Nakano left Square Enix and joined Keisuke Ito in the VGM Sound Creator's Alliance.
