Kumi Tanioka is a game music composer. Born in Hiroshima, she studied formally at the University of Kobe and joined Square in 1998. She has performed live piano and synthesizer arrangements for the softrock videogame band The Star Onions and allegedly dresses up as Santa Claus at Square Enix holiday parties.
In February 2010 she announced her departure from Square Enix and has since joined Yuji Takenouchi's GE-ON-DAN.
