Laura Shigihara is a half Japanese, half American independent composer. She has been classically trained in piano for 11 years and taught herself to play the guitar and drums. Graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in international relations and business, Laura sharply diverted her career into the world of music.
Her career began as a sound director through Apple Japan, working on audio talk show and English learning materials. Her first game work was on Wobbly Bobbly, a casual puzzle game. This led to a career working on music and sound for games, being hired by a variety of indie and casual projects until her breakout work on Plants vs. Zombies in 2009.
In her spare time she is (mostly) single-handedly working on the story and music focussed RPG Melolune. She also teaches piano to children and performs locally.
