Takahito Eguchi

A Composer and Music Arranger for Rebirth Music and (formerly) Square and Square Enix

Takahito Eguchi

Takahito Eguchi is a game music composer and arranger. He attended the Shobi Academy of Music in Tokyo with game music collaborator Noriko Matsueda, and worked with her on game soundtracks for Square between the years of 1995 and 2003. His musical influences include Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, and Miles Davis.

His game music projects include arrangements for Bahamut Lagoon and compositions found in Racing Lagoon and The Bouncer. In 2003, after mastering the score to Final Fantasy X-2, the musician left Square Enix to become a freelancer, and contributed background music for the televised anime program D.N.ANGEL (2003) and arrange the opening theme for Fantastic Children (2004).

He has since collaborated with his former collegues, including Yoko Shimomura on Dark Cloud 2. He has also worked in the Japanese music industry, with the rapper SEAMO and Boys II Men in their Japanese concert tour.

He married longtime partner Noriko Matsueda in 2009.

News & Blogs

Since I'm the only staff member here that cares about you, I feel it's my obligation to let you know that Square has launched the Japanese site for Final Fantasy X-2. And since we're such good pals (even though you stole may bandwidth, but it's okay because I forgive you) I'll also tell you that Square has replaced Nobuo Uematsu in favor of Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi for composing FFX-2 music. In addition, Square has released new Yuna artwork, which you can steal from Gameforms for now.1
