Tetsuya Takahashi began as graphics designer working in the videogame industry. He worked as a battle graphics designer on Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy VI, and contributed graphics design to and Chrono Trigger. He was the director and conceived of the scenario of Xenogears, and left Square after the company expressed little interest in continuing the storyline he invisioned.
In 1999 he joined Monolith Soft1 and then directed the PlayStation 2 title Xenosaga Episode 1, which built upon the epic storyline of Xenogears. In 2010 he wrote Xenoblade Chronicles and continues to work at Monolith Soft working on new titles.
