William Ralph Wright is the visionary designer of several landmark titles in the simulation genre including Sim City and The Sims, among others.
In 1989 he along with Jeff Braun co-founded Maxis, which was soon thereafter bought by Electronic Arts. Wright remained at Maxis until April, 2009, when he left to start the gaming and entertainment think tank "Stupid Fun Club" with backing by EA. Said Wright upon his departure:
The entertainment industry is moving rapidly into an era of revolutionary change. Stupid Fun Club will explore new possibilities that are emerging from this sublime chaos and create new forms of entertainment on a variety of platforms.1
