Yoshitaka Hirota

A Music Composer for Square, Sacnoth, and Twin Tail Studio

Yoshitaka Hirota

Yoshitaka Hirota is a videogame music composer. He got his start as a sound designer for Squaresoft during the Super Famicom and Sony Playstation eras, contributing to such game titles as Final Fantasy VI, Live A Live, Final Fantasy VII, and Parasite Eve. While working as a sound designer he was actively performing live music as a member of a punk band, and also DJ'd at night clubs. He continued working as a sound programmer after leaving Square to join Sacnoth's Koudelka sound team.

His first soundtrack as a composer came after the he left Square in 1998 and collaborated with Yasunori Mitsuda on the score for Bomberman 64 and two Biohazard 2 drama albums. Hirota composed music for the entire trilogy of Sacnoth's Shadow Hearts titles, along with the arranged album entitled near death experience. He joined a team of prominent game music composers in remixing a track of Tomohito Nishiura's for the Rogue Galaxy Premium Arrange album.

Yoshitaka Hirota's music has been featured in the DS Style series title Hana Saku Gardening Life. His latest album release is a vocal concept album collaboration with singer Rekka Katakiri called Kinema in the Hall. He currently heads his own music company called Twin Tail Studio.
