The Two Guys from Andromeda, creators of the Space Quest adventure games that were big in the 80s and 90s, have reformed as "Guys From Andromeda" and started a Kickstarter campaign to fund their new game.
I'm working with them to develop a set of prototypes during the campaign period. A new one will be released each time they hit $100k, and the first is already available.
Check out the campaign at http://tgakick.com and consider adding your support! Some of the rewards are particularly great, but of course the reward of a new game by these guys is why you're really doing it.

We have not designed Nintendo 3DS and Wii U to be mere improved versions of their predecessors... We have designed them so that they can realize what has been impossible.
To be perfectly honest, Nintendo completely botched Mario's 25th Anniversary... Super Mario Bros. deserved better. Arguably the most influential game of all time, it deserved to have the vaults opened wide for fans to have access to every bit of content related to the original title. After consuming the disc, we should've been left utterly full, yet definitively satiated. But that's not the route Nintendo decided to take -- instead, we got a disc with a rom of Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES, a flimsy book sprinkled with pull quotes, and a CD containing a shamefully bare selection of tracks. In essence, Nintendo celebrated the 25th anniversary of their iconic mascot by making a quick buck. And while this left us undeniably disappointed, hope remains.
Check out this Destructoid blog post chock-full of delicious Cave Story-related goodness, including details on future Steam updates (leaderboards!) and an upcoming (a month!) eShop release, as well as a good word on Wii U development and system power. Unfortunately, this pretty good news comes off the heels of some pretty bad news: La Mulana, the retro indie Metroidvania-adventure-platformer that Nicalis intended to publish on WiiWare, has been canceled, though a self-published PC release is still in the works by the developer, and you can still download the original freeware release.

This is a trailer for the excellent OC Remix album Mega Man 9: Back in Blue, released last September. This post is a little late, but I recently picked up Mega Man 9 again after a long haitus (loving it). You can get the album for free at backinblue.ocremix.org.

Introducing the Perpetual Testing Initiative (PeTI) for Portal 2, which combines the powerful, easy-to-use Puzzle Maker and full Steam Workshop integration. Available free for the PC and Mac on May 8th. Visit www.thinkwithportals.com for more information.

Three years after release in Japan, Europe and Australia, Nintendo will launch the enhanced Wii port of Pikmin 2 in North America in June. Previously only the original Pikmin received a Wii release with newer, better controls leveraging the Wii remote.12
Cynics might conclude that Nintendo is just digging through the Wii library in order to thrust something on shelves during the Wii's death throes. As true as that might be, the release of Pikmin 2 should build brand awareness in preparation for Pikmin 3‘s unveiling for Wii U at E3 20123.

Check out this excellent cover of Portal's "Still Alive" by @ProfessorShyguy. Can you name all the games that are featured in the video?

Mega Ran busts out an ill take on Journey's chill tunes.
BlogFinal Fantasy XIV didn't get off to a great start. The game was launched on PC to little/no fanfare. In fact gamers reported so many problems and issues that Hiromichi Tanaka resigned as producer along with a number of other staff changes1. Now that Square Enix have spent time re-designing and re-working the game - they want people to give them money. Read on
[Tony Diaz] notes the disks he's spent all day copying, 10 years of my work, added up to 2MB.

Not much more than a brief tease; as part of today's "Nintendo Direct" news event in Japan, Nintendo said "a special Wii disc featuring all your favorite Kirby games," will be released this year, the character's 20th anniversary.1
