Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is finally out! You can watch it streamed via Vimeo on the main site Here or you can download it via bittorent in the hi-quality .mov or the smaller xvid .avi. You can also download Daniel James' phenomenal soundtrack at Hybrid Two.

Simply put, this is the greatest fan film ever made. Its not perfect, but its far better than the proposed Hollywood MGS movie could ever hope to be. Snake has a few moments where he seems a bit out of character, but overall the look, feel, and, most importantly in my book, the sound is strictly 100% MGS. Well worth a watch, even for those that aren't fans of the series, just as a 'look how crazy awesome these fans are!!'

I'm downloading it now and really looking forward to seeing it based on your recommendation. I have to admit thought that I have no fan movie experience, so this is my first time. I hope MGS Philantropy is gentle. But not too gentle.

Well...you see...most fan movies = crap. Even the well-produced ones that look pretty...

You'll find out pretty quick that there's a reason they have professional actors to do this sort of thing. Even Philanthropy isn't completely immune to this, but its more so than most.

Is it just me, or are the voices really, really not synced to the video? Aside from this incredible annoying point, quite fun to watch.

They tried with the voices, but its an english dub of an italian film. It didn't bother me too much.

I thought the dialogue and situations were uncannily similar to the games themselves. They did an amazing job recreating the melodramatic atmosphere and clumsy characterizations that have become a staple of the series. Well done
