Where the Hell was LC during E3?

Blog

After months of telling myself that once the news portion of Videogam.in was put up that I would dig in whole heartedly and really commit myself to the community here, E3 has come and gone, and not a single post from this ol' Cactus-lovin man. I love this place, I feel I owe some sort of explanation for what seems like a lack of presence.

After moving myself out to sunny California to pursue more work in the gaming industry, I went an entire year unemployed after the sudden loss of employment from Electronic Arts. It wasn't looking so great. I found myself with an entire year of free time, and when the site re-opened I was more than happy to supply the odd article here and there. Suddenly, out of the blue I got several phone calls all at the same time regarding various jobs. One was for the car rental service Avis, and I told them to get bent. Another was from Nickelodeon. They wanted me in their Virtual Worlds division, and I wanted to explore avenues other than the MMO space (I worked on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning while at EA).

The last call I received was from Insomniac Games, the company that gave us Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, and Resistance. They offered me a position there, and I gladly accepted. The company is awesome, and while I am unable to talk about what I do there (due to the MIGHTY Non-Disclosure Agreement), I can assure you that I am happy and extremely fucking busy.

Of course with all that comes the inevitable "life junk" that i'm forced to do: get a new driver's license, Buying a car, getting insurance, finding a place to live, making sure I can afford to eat, and making sure not to completely burn out. So far, so good. Eventually I'll drive this thing into a routine I can manage, but during the entirety of E3, I was at my desk pounding away at (INSERT MYSTERY THING THAT I CAN'T TALK ABOUT HERE) and couldn't focus on all the awesomeness dripping from the show floor (hopefully I'll be AT the show next year).

While all this craziness is happening, I'll be gone for awhile. I can't even keep up with my facebook/twitter shit right now, but this is one place I refuse to leave behind. I like it here, and I'll be around, I'm just not sure when exactly. I suppose this is all a part of becoming an adult, and growing up...

and after all this madness, one question still remains: WHY THE FUCK WAS THERE NO 'THE LAST GUARDIAN' AT E3!?

Yea congrats man! And yes, the absence of The Last Gaurdian at this E3 is quite a perplexing one(word on the street claims that it will be at this TGS).

Regardless LC it's always a pleasure to see your presence here and I'll be looking forward to what ever else you have in store for this place.

Since it's been almost 8 months since this was posted, I think some mysteries need solving, and updates are in order:

    1) The mystery project was Resistance 3
    2) I am no longer working for Insomniac Games
    3) I have migrated to employment at Naughty Dog
    4) I am currently working on Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
    5) I can't say anything about U3, other than it is pretty fucking awesome

You can resume your jealousy now u__u

@LittleCactaur Right on. We're looking forward to Uncharted 3.

Hey do you personally know Amy Hennig?

@LittleCactaur Can you confirm or deny if The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon Emperor had major impact on the development of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves? I know the whole series is a big ripoff of Indiana Jones, but I was shocked how similar U2 and M:CotD were, especially towards the end of U2.
