Mega Man Legends 3 coming to 3DS

The veil has been finally lowered, it's coming ladies and gents, Mega Man Legends 3 is here. Following the 3D platforming iteration of Mega Man that debuted on the PS1, Capcom has revealed this new long-awaited sequel today which will come out on Nintendo's 3DS. Not much else has been detailed other than a short quote from the game director Masakazu Eguchi:

As you can see, Inafune is very enthusiastic about this project. And that new development style that he said he would go into more detail about later, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed by that. We think not only fans of the series, but anyone interested in Mega Man Legends will be like, “What? …OMG!!!”

When I and the rest of the staff first heard that were that we were doing this, we were shaking in our boots. All of us were asking our bosses, “Are you guys serious?

But the proposition was interesting to say the least. So, now here we are making intense preparations and trying to stay on schedule.

Until then, we'll just have to sit tight and wait for the delicious treacling of info to roll in.1

I wasn't a big fan of Mega Man Legends but I really liked Mega Man Legends 2. I hope they can figure out how to make something really unique this time.

Yea. My biggest gripe with this project though is that they're doing a public focus-test next friday at New York Comic-Con. I get the feeling the dev team isn't exactly sure what MML3 is supposed to be, or that they're not confident with what it ought to be. I find that to be quite disheartening.

Still, I'll wait and see how it pans out, it could be amazing who knows. The 3DS in general is proving once again that it's going to be the hottest platform for gaming next year so this announcement is a welcome addition to that.
