No. It's not even the best handheld game of the year; Dragon Quest IX is worlds better. It's not even the best iPhone game of the year, which has to be Osmos. Its not even the best iPhone puzzle game of the year, which I submit for your consideration to be Plunder!.

Jaffe continued in the sourced article, "Out of all the games this year it was really the only one that was able to captivate a huge percentage of the American public."

Although Jaffe's quotes are thoughtful and accurate, being "the best" game of any given year is not based on popularity -- it's based simply on being the best.

@Matt I dunno, the Oscars are usually based on popularity and not "the best". Oh snap.

Edit: I mean popularity among the people in the academy, not the general public.
