Check out this enshined PC, lying in wait to play Diablo III. More pics on this NeoGAF post.
Joystiq reports that Diablo III is Amazon.com's most pre-ordered PC game of all-time, coming off a recent open beta weekend that net 2 million players.
We have not designed Nintendo 3DS and Wii U to be mere improved versions of their predecessors... We have designed them so that they can realize what has been impossible.
To be perfectly honest, Nintendo completely botched Mario's 25th Anniversary... Super Mario Bros. deserved better. Arguably the most influential game of all time, it deserved to have the vaults opened wide for fans to have access to every bit of content related to the original title. After consuming the disc, we should've been left utterly full, yet definitively satiated. But that's not the route Nintendo decided to take -- instead, we got a disc with a rom of Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES, a flimsy book sprinkled with pull quotes, and a CD containing a shamefully bare selection of tracks. In essence, Nintendo celebrated the 25th anniversary of their iconic mascot by making a quick buck. And while this left us undeniably disappointed, hope remains.
Check out this Destructoid blog post chock-full of delicious Cave Story-related goodness, including details on future Steam updates (leaderboards!) and an upcoming (a month!) eShop release, as well as a good word on Wii U development and system power. Unfortunately, this pretty good news comes off the heels of some pretty bad news: La Mulana, the retro indie Metroidvania-adventure-platformer that Nicalis intended to publish on WiiWare, has been canceled, though a self-published PC release is still in the works by the developer, and you can still download the original freeware release.

This is a trailer for the excellent OC Remix album Mega Man 9: Back in Blue, released last September. This post is a little late, but I recently picked up Mega Man 9 again after a long haitus (loving it). You can get the album for free at backinblue.ocremix.org.

Introducing the Perpetual Testing Initiative (PeTI) for Portal 2, which combines the powerful, easy-to-use Puzzle Maker and full Steam Workshop integration. Available free for the PC and Mac on May 8th. Visit www.thinkwithportals.com for more information.

Three years after release in Japan, Europe and Australia, Nintendo will launch the enhanced Wii port of Pikmin 2 in North America in June. Previously only the original Pikmin received a Wii release with newer, better controls leveraging the Wii remote.12
Cynics might conclude that Nintendo is just digging through the Wii library in order to thrust something on shelves during the Wii's death throes. As true as that might be, the release of Pikmin 2 should build brand awareness in preparation for Pikmin 3‘s unveiling for Wii U at E3 20123.

Check out this excellent cover of Portal's "Still Alive" by @ProfessorShyguy. Can you name all the games that are featured in the video?

Not much more than a brief tease; as part of today's "Nintendo Direct" news event in Japan, Nintendo said "a special Wii disc featuring all your favorite Kirby games," will be released this year, the character's 20th anniversary.1
Sword & Sworcery EP, the exploratory indie action adventure with an emphasis on audiovisual style previously only available on iOS, was just released on Steam and is 25% off till April 24.
This blog post by Chris Kohler is an excellent followup to one a few days ago, Videogames Can’t Afford to Cost This Much. Kohler chronicles the tectonic shifts that are taking place in the industry: Our games are going to be cheaper - probably substantially cheaper - but at the cost of full-scale games. "The power is going to ultimately shift from the publisher to the developer," cutting out the middlemen: retailers, publishers, and hardware makers. "We need developers to make games. We need players to play them. Everything in between is negotiable."

Tiny Cartridge reports that Nicalis’s next eShop game (and first Wii U game!) is Aban Hawkins & the 1001 Spikes, an enhanced remake of an Xbox Live game by JPN 8Bits Fanatics. 1001 Spikes is a retro-styled Platform Hell side-scroller that surprises you with death! All the time! The trailer for the original XBL game is attached. By the way, have you seen Nicalis's amazing home page?
While we often see the evolution of artists working in old media, ever-shifting technical terrain tends to obscure videogame makers' aesthetic trajectories. In Thatgamecompany's pathbreaking and gorgeous games for the Playstation 3, we get the rare chance to watch these artists at work against a fixed technological backdrop.

I am recreating the entire first level of Super Mario Bros. out of LEGO® bricks, using one brick per pixel!
